For decades, tension has spread in the eastern Mediterranean, and it is considered one of the hottest areas of conflict, especially in the Greek-Turkish theater, and to complement that in 2021 we witness two exercises in this region:

1-The Turkish wolf howls
The Turkish Air Force and Navy have completed exercise (sea ​​wolf 2021) It is the second version of the exercise that was held in May 2019 for the first time, Denizkurdu (sea wolf in turkish)  is a large-scale exercise was most recently held May 25-June 6 in the Aegean and Mediterranean .The objective of this training is a show of strength for Ankara’s expression of its strong presence in the naval theater

It was carried out in three phases. In the first phase PHASE-1 “Operational Preparation” on May 25-27
The “Operational Preparation” phase, which will include Anti-Surface Warfare (ASuW), Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW), Air Warfare/Air Defense (AW/AD), Amphibious Warfare, Mine Warfare, Electronic Warfare (EW), Live Firing, Joint Training, Coastal Troops Training, Submarine Personnel Rescue Training, Maritime Control Operation, and Asymmetric Threat Training, will start on May 25 with the movement of troops and ships from bases and ports.

PHASE-2 “Free Play” will be held between May 28-June 02
 (Force-on-Force Freestyle Training)” phase, crisis management training based on a scenario that is the capture of an island or a beach by soldiers backed by combat aircraft and navy , which was prepared with the participation of all Forces, will be carried out under the command of the Exercise Control Center of the Naval Warfare Center.

PHASE-3 “Distinguished Observer Day and Harbor Visits” will be held between June 02-05
In the last phase of the exercise, which will be held between June 02-04, 2021, 83 ships will conduct 22 port visits in the Aegean Sea and the Eastern Mediterranean. Within the framework of COVID-19 measures this year, the ships will not be opened to public visits.

12 Frigates, 9 Corvettes, 18 Fast Attack Crafts, 10 Submarines, 11 Mine Hunters, 16 Patrol Ships, 33 Auxiliary Ships, 24 Landing Ships, 11 Fixed-wing Aircraft  (cn 235 and air 72 mpa) from 301,302 sq , 16 Helicopters (s70 from 352 and 351)  , 14 Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (tb2 from 312 and 313 sq) , Naval Special Operations Forces (SAT & SAS), and Amphibious Naval Infantry and Amphibious Assault Teams from the Naval Forces Command

From the Turkish Air Force
43 fighter aicrafts : f16 from (193 ,161,162,113) , f4 from 111 sq and 132 sq in Aggressor role
Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) from 131 sq  and Transport Aircraft 

From Turkish army command:
28 Helicopters including Attack and Utility Helicopters 

2-Poseidon’s fork
Bilateral exercise activities are now taking place (Poseidon’s rage 2021) in Souda Bay Between the Greek and American Air Force in the period from May 28 to June 28, which is a repositioning of some aircraft of the American 492nd Squadron from the Lankeneth base at the Greek Air Base Souda, to participate in a training program that includes scenarios and tactics that simulate real war missions, as well as missions with live ammunition.The main objective of the Greek Air Force and Navy from these exercises is to prove the idea of ​​the ability to deter any military operations in the eastern Mediterranean by means of aviation and warships.

 “POSEIDON’S RAGE” concerns training at low altitudes, attacks on ground and surface targets, abandonment of real / training weapons, aerial combat, as well as missions of complex air operations (Composite Air Operation-COMAO).The program also includes Close Air Support (CAS) missions, in collaboration with the Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) of the Army and Special Warfare Command (DEP) , as well as air defense exercises (Air Defense Exercise-ADEX) with the participation Navy ships.
