Jakarta, June 11–14, 2025 – Naval Group will participate in the 10th edition of the Indo Defence exhibition in Jakarta. At booth A065, Naval Group will showcase its comprehensive offerings for modern naval fleets, including submarines and surface ships.
Contributing to Indonesia’s Naval and Industrial Autonomy
Indonesia is a key nation in the Indo-Pacific region and a strategic partner of France. In August 2021, the two countries signed a defense cooperation agreement at the ministerial level.
Following that, in February 2022, Naval Group and PT PAL signed a Strategic Partnership Agreement aimed at combining their expertise to meet the Indonesian Navy’s evolving needs. This partnership also includes the creation of a joint R&D center that will bring together Indonesian stakeholders such as universities, research institutes, and industrial partners.
On March 28, 2024, Indonesia selected Naval Group and PT PAL to enhance its naval capabilities with two Scorpène® Evolved submarines. These submarines will be built locally at the PT PAL shipyard, under a technology transfer agreement with Naval Group.
Most recently, on May 28, 2025, Indonesia and France signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to deepen their strategic defense partnership. This LOI paves the way for future cooperation, including potential new orders for Scorpène® submarines and frigates.
At Indo Defence 2025, Naval Group will reaffirm its commitment to fostering strategic partnerships with Indonesian industry and addressing the operational needs of the Indonesian Navy.

The Scorpène® combines a highly capable platform with an advanced combat system. It is a versatile, robust, ocean-going submarine also optimized for shallow water operations. It supports a full range of missions, including anti-surface and anti-submarine warfare, special operations, and intelligence gathering.
Its cutting-edge SUBTICS® combat system is modular, scalable, and suited for both blue and littoral water operations. It can be integrated into new platforms or modernization programs for existing submarines.
With 14 submarines built globally—including six for Brazil and Chile—the Scorpène® class is a key reference among conventional attack submarines (SSK), and its continuous evolution ensures the integration of the latest technologies.
• Belh@rra® Frigate
The Belh@rra® (FDI) is a next-generation, first-rank frigate designed for high-intensity missions either independently or as part of a task force. Drawing on operational feedback from the French Navy, the Belh@rra® incorporates the latest technologies for multi-domain warfare: anti-air, anti-surface, anti-submarine, and asymmetric combat.
Its modular design allows customization to specific navy requirements and comes with a comprehensive suite of systems and equipment. The Belh@rra® has been selected by both the French and Hellenic navies, with initial deliveries scheduled for 2025.
