At the heart of this modernization vision lies AKKOR, ASELSAN’s next-generation Active Protection System (APS). Initially developed alongside the ALTAY MBT timeline, AKKOR with its modular design provides protection to a variety of MBT’s and armored vehicles. AKKOR detects, tracks, intercepts and neutralizes incoming anti-tank guided missiles, rockets, RPGs, and top-attack munitions before impact.
Equipped with advanced radar sensors and high-speed interceptors, AKKOR provides 360-degree coverageand counters multiple simultaneous threats within milliseconds. Its modular and scalable structure enables integration into Leopard 2A4 modernization programs, providing a shared protection standard across diverse fleets. By combining hard-kill with soft-kill, AKKOR significantly enhances both crew survivability and mission continuity under the harshest battlefield conditions.
Complementing the need for Active Protection across platforms and requirements, ASELSAN also offers PULAT APS to armored vehicles. PULAT provides both operational and integrative modularity in its hard-kill protection concept. PULAT detects the anti-tank missiles or rockets approaching to the platform with its high technology radar, and then eliminates them before they reach the platform by using Hard-Kill method. PULAT can be rapidly and easily integrated into both modern and legacy platforms due to its modular and distributed system solution.
Together with AKKOR and PULAT, ASELSAN provides an additional layer of protection and survivability to both next generation and legacy platforms.

VOLKAN Fire Control System (FCS) family defines ASELSAN’s approach to lethality. Originating from the Leopard 1 modernization program, it has evolved into VOLKAN 201/120 and VOLKAN 200/120 variants used on ALTAY.
These fully digital systems integrate stabilized gun and turret drives, advanced ballistic computers, meteorological sensors, and dual commander-gunner thermal sighting units. The result is faster target acquisition, target tracking, and a hunter-killer capability that gives crews a decisive edge in fast-moving combat.

ASELSAN’s SARP Remote Weapon Station (RWS) brings an additional layer of firepower and self-defense capability. Mounted on the turret roof, SARP allows crews to engage targets with 12.7 mm, 7.62 mm, or 40 mm weapons without exposing themselves to hostile fire.
The system’s dual-axis stabilization and automatic target tracking ensure accurate engagement on the move, while integrated day/night cameras enable 24/7 operations. Combined with laser warning receivers and command networks, SARP transforms legacy tanks into flexible, urban-ready fighting vehicles capable of defending against both asymmetric and aerial threats.

GÖREN enhances driver vision in all environmental conditions with its thermal and low-light cameras while YAMGÖZ provide panoramic imaging for the commander and crew with its thermal and day TV cameras. By fusing data from multiple electro-optical sensors, these systems enable simultaneous and uninterrupted threat detection, tracking, and shared visualization so reducing reaction times and boosting combat effectiveness in complex terrain or urban zones.
Laser Warning and Defensive Countermeasures
The LIAS 400 Laser Warning System completes ASELSAN’s defensive suite. It detects, classifies and identifies laser threats from enemy rangefinders, target designators, and beam-riding missiles. LIAS 400 provides 360-degree coverageand detects multiple simultaneous threats within milliseconds. When a threat is identified, the system automatically alerts the crew and cues AKKOR for countermeasures such as smoke grenades.
