Developed by MKE for asymmetric warfare, PİRANA kamikaze unmanned surface vessel (KUSV) scored a direct hit on a surface target during Exercise Denizkurdu 2026. Controlled from a command-and-control console aboard a Tuzla-class patrol vessel, PİRANA successfully destroyed the target with its 100 kg live warhead. In doing so, it became the first Turkish kamikaze unmanned surface vessel to demonstrate its capabilities in a live-fire trial.
Unmanned systems are playing an increasingly important role in naval operations. Developed by MKE engineers under the “Effective, Simple and Affordable” (EBU) approach, PİRANA will strengthen the naval strike capabilities of Turkish Navy and friendly-allied nations.
MKE PİRANA TO ENGAGE TARGETS IN SWARMS PİRANA can conduct missions both individually and in swarms. When operating in swarms, the vessels can approach targets with a reduced risk of detection, thanks to their design and special coating, which reduce their radar cross-section. Their manoeuvres in the target area distract enemy radar and defence systems, enabling effective target destruction.
Equipped with radio-frequency (RF) and satellite communications (SATCOM), PİRANA can operate in remotely controlled or autonomous mode. Its satellite control capability overcomes geographical constraints, enabling continuous command and control over long distances.
With a speed of over 40 knots and high manoeuvrability, PİRANA offers significant advantages in scenarios requiring a rapid response. Its mission range exceeds 200 nautical miles while carrying a 100 kg warhead, enabling it to conduct long-range missions.

SUCCESSFUL INTEGRATION OF UNMANNED AIR AND SURFACE SYSTEMS PİRANA can be integrated with unmanned aerial vessels (UAVs). During trials in June 2025, a data link was established between TCG Anadolu, Bayraktar TB3 and PİRANA to test their interoperability.
