The Spanish government has officially approved a €3.12 billion acquisition agreement for 45 Hürjet advanced jet trainers and light combat aircraft.
The Hürjet, a single-engine aircraft designed and manufactured by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), will be produced at TAI’s facilities in Turkey.
The agreement includes a significant role for Spanish industry: Airbus España will be responsible for integrating the mission computer, communications, and other selected avionics systems.
This landmark deal is scheduled to see the first aircraft deliveries by 2028.
It represents a major breakthrough for Turkey’s aviation sector, as it is the largest defense contract the country has secured within the European market to date.
