HAVELSAN’S UNMANNED GROUND VEHICLE BARKAN ENTERED TAF INVENTORY!

HAVELSAN, which has been serving the security forces for many years with its software solutions, has added its first product -in terms of an operational platform- to the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) inventory! In this context, BARKAN I and BARKAN II  are available for the use of security forces, which will strengthen their position in many fields.

HAVELSAN’s Product Development and Production Director Veysel Ataoğlu said that their work on robotics and autonomous vehicle systems started with the BARKAN I, and they have been conducting test activities on the field for approximately 2 years.

Expressing that they revealed the BARKAN II vehicle by reflecting the user feedback on the platform in this process; it is stated that this vehicle has higher mobility, its weight has almost doubled, it can carry some heavy class weapons, and HAVELSAN has carried out tests with a 12.7 millimetre weapon system. HAVELSAN will differentiate these payloads further and tests of 40 millimetre grenade launchers, as well as both METE and other types of missiles will be conducted. Since BARKAN II has entered the inventory, TAF will soon test it in the field and also at different types of geographies. HAVELSAN will follow them closely while properly continuing its activities of development.

HAVELSAN’s BARKAN II was exhibited in different fairs abroad and within the scope of IDEF’23, various meetings about BARKAN II were held with decision makers. The intensive work to export HAVELSAN’s high technology vehicles is carried out under the coordination of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye Defence Industry Agency.
