Bruker Announces New Order from Dutch Defence Materiel Organisation

Bruker Receives Award of a Contract to Design, Build and Equip Three Radiological/Chemical Reconnaissance Vehicles to support Dutch Firefighters, Police and other First Responders when responding to emergencies.

The Bruker Detection division today announces that it has been awarded a contract for the supply of three (3) fully equipped R/C reconnaissance vehicles by the Dutch Defence Materiel Organisation (DMO). Bruker Detection won the contract, scheduled for delivery over a two and a half year period, following an international tender in which several leading suppliers competed.

Bruker Detection will supply three mobile detection platforms based on the Mercedes Atego chassis. Each will be equipped with Bruker Detection products, a remote-controlled robot and selected sensors from other suppliers. Bruker Detection will be responsible for the overall design of the mobile platforms and provide systems integration and project management expertise. The vehicles will be configured in the Netherlands where the Dutch company, Kenbri Firefighting BV, has been contracted by Bruker to coordinate equipment integration according to a systems architecture developed by Bruker.

Procured and operated by the Dutch military, and stationed at the CBRN-Response Unit in Vught, these mobile detection platforms will be used to support Dutch Firefighters, Police or other First Responders when responding to emergencies with a suspected serious CBRN-threat. These mobile platforms will provide a capability for rapid scene assessment so that appropriate action can be taken.

Sebastian Meyer Plath, president of the Detection division, comments: “The award of this contract allows our client to take full advantage of our solutions-based capabilities. We meet the requirements of our customers by supplying their precise needs – ranging from the provision of a single detector all the way through to delivering complete turnkey solutions, such as these fully integrated reconnaissance vehicles. Our business has the expertise and flexibility to deliver low volume specialist contracts, whilst having the competency to ensure we meet the clients’ operational requirements. Over the next two and a half years our experienced project managers and systems engineers will work closely with this client and ensure we deliver the contract on-time and within budget.”
