The Defense Security Service recognized on the 24th of June four Lockheed Martin facilities with 2015 James S. Cogswell Outstanding Industrial Security Achievement Awards. The awards, which recognize industrial security excellence, are among the most prestigious honors that can be bestowed on industry contractors with security clearances.
Out of the more than 13,000 cleared facilities nationwide, only 41 facilities received a Cogswell Award this year. Facilities may be nominated for the award only if they have a minimum of two consecutive superior industrial security review ratings and show a sustained degree of excellence and innovation in their overall security program management, implementation and oversight. The Lockheed Martin facilities that received the 2015 Cogswell Award were:
Missiles and Fire Control – Orlando, Florida
Mission Systems and Training – Orlando, Florida
Mission Systems and Training – Marion, Massachusetts
Information Systems & Global Solutions – Littleton, Colorado (Deer Creek facility)
“With less than one percent of cleared facilities receiving this recognition, these awards are a tremendous honor for Lockheed Martin’s security professionals, who work tirelessly to protect our people, facilities, intellectual property and classified information systems,” said Lockheed Martin Chief Security Officer Robert Trono. “Our relentless commitment to continuously improving our security procedures plays a critical role in our ability to support our military, intelligence community and other government customers.”
The awards were presented at the 51st annual National Classification Management Society seminar in Las Vegas.
