Havelsan, a company with 42 years of experience in the Turkish defense industry, has made significant strides in exporting its software solutions to security forces.
Recently, the company demonstrated its capabilities at international fairs and exercises, most notably at CWIX 2024, NATO’s largest digital interoperability exercise held at the NATO Joint Force Training Centre in Bydgoszcz, Poland.
At CWIX 2024, Havelsan’s Kartal Command and Control Software and its link components successfully passed all assurance verification and validation (AV&V) tests for NATO certification, despite it being their first participation. Additionally, Kartal and its components met the NATO Federated Mission Networking (FMN) standards, earning NATO certification.
Havelsan also supported the testing and certification of the Air Force Information System at the event. The Kartal Command and Control Software, designed for the Air Force Command’s Control Alert Centers, provides essential functions such as real-time air picture generation, surveillance, weapon control, and simulation.
Achieving certifications at CWIX is crucial as it ensures a country’s command and control systems can interoperate with NATO and other allied nations, a key requirement for NATO mission participation.
Havelsan has been an active participant in CWIX exercises since 2012, obtaining AV&V certifications for products like DOOB and KASIF in 2019, and Advent CMS and Advent Marti in 2023.
The CWIX 2024 exercise, held from June 3 to June 21, saw involvement from 42 countries, including NATO and the European Union, with over 480 systems and approximately 2,500 personnel across 18 areas of interest.
Havelsan participated with 25 personnel, presenting six systems: KARTAL and its link components, Tactical Data Link Management Center TDLYM, Advent CMS, Advent Triton, and Advent Marti, focusing on air, naval, and tactical data link areas.
Havelsan General Manager Mehmet Akif Nacar commented on their achievements, highlighting the successful passing of operational scenario-based and bilateral tests. He emphasized the company’s ongoing efforts to develop systems that meet NATO standards, support the Turkish Armed Forces, and produce internationally competitive solutions with their new certifications.
