The High-Precision Systems holding company of the Rostec State Corporation has begun deliveries of the latest short-range anti-aircraft guided missiles for the Pantsir family of systems.
A batch of mini-missiles has been shipped to the Russian Ministry of Defense under the state defense order.
The small-sized missiles are designed to combat a wide range of targets in the near zone, including unmanned aerial vehicles. Earlier, during the tests, the main characteristics of the products, as well as the correctness of the technical solutions implemented in them, were confirmed.
A container with four short-range interception missiles is installed in the standard landing place of a regular Pantsir missile. Reloading with pre-prepared containers takes the same amount of time as with regular ammunition.
“The new mini-missiles allow to significantly increase the ammunition load of the Pantsir — up to 48 rounds. As a result, the system can intercept a larger number of air targets, such as drones. Thus, it will be much more difficult for the enemy to “discharge” the system’s ammunition while trying to break through the air defense line,” said Bekkhan Ozdoyev, Industrial Director of the Armament Cluster of the Rostec State Corporation.
At the same time, depending on the tasks of combat duty, Pantsir crews can install various combinations of small-sized and conventional missiles, increasing the variability of means for hitting air targets.
For the first time, the High Precision Systems holding presented the mini-missiles for the Pantsir to the general public at the World Defense Show 2024 international exhibition in Riyadh. In Russia, the missiles were shown that same year at the Fleet-2024 exhibition in Kronstadt.

According to Russian military analyst Igor Korotchenko, editor-in-chief of National Defense magazine, the deployment of the new Pantsir mini-missiles represents a crucial step in countering ongoing threats from unmanned systems.
“The start of these deliveries is an important direction, designed to effectively repel massive strikes by Ukrainian aircraft-type drones on targets deep in the territory of the Russian Federation,” Korotchenko told RIA Novosti. “The new short-range interceptor missiles are specifically adapted to defeat such drones, and their affordability makes them suitable for mass production.”
Korotchenko further emphasized the operational advantages, noting that increasing the Pantsir’s ammunition load to 48 rounds and the speed of reloading will enhance its resilience against drone swarms attempting to exhaust air defense lines.
