Raytheon makes the most of RSA 2015, world s largest infosec conference

Raytheon enjoyed a whirlwind week at RSA 2015, the largest info security event in the world.

Among the highlights: the announcement of a major joint venture; a best product award; a virtual reality experience; and dinner with Leon Panetta, former director of the CIA.

RSA drew more than 30,000 security professionals to the Moscone Center in San Francisco for the week. For Raytheon, it was the perfect audience and occasion to showcase its cybersecurity expertise.

The week kicked off with big news, as Raytheon announced a definitive agreement with Vista Equity Partners to form a new cybersecurity company. The venture combines Websense, a Vista portfolio company, with Raytheon Cyber Products. It will leverage Raytheon’s advanced cybersecurity technologies and Websense’s industry-leading TRITON® platform to deliver defense-grade cybersecurity to commercial markets worldwide.

Raytheon also launched the new web portal RaytheonCyber.com and Raytheon Cyber social media channels, which feature product information, events, resources and career opportunities, as well as cyber blogs offering expert perspective from Raytheon cyber leaders.

Raytheon also unveiled the SureView® product suite, a new offering for commercial and government markets that includes SureView Insider Threat, SureView Analytics, SureView Memory Integrity and SureView Threat Protection. The SureView suite manages risk from endpoint-to-endpoint.

RSA attendees packed the Raytheon booth all week, eager to see SureView in action. In addition to product demos, a live theater presentation on the upcoming SureView user experience — based on the latest in neuro and cognitive science — attracted standing-room-only crowds.

To add to the excitement, Raytheon treated attendees to an immersive virtual reality experience using Oculus Rift Virtual Reality (VR) glasses. The technology allowed users to see the tradeshow booth and the environment around them transformed into a cyber world, featuring highlights of the four SureView Products.

On the speaking front, Raytheon Cyber Products CTO Joshua Douglas presented a session on combating risk in the supply chain, during which he discussed how the increase in global markets introduces the opportunity for new exposures, and how to mitigate those risks.

And, in one of the biggest highlights of the week, Raytheon hosted some of the brightest and most influential security experts in the world for an evening event that brought customers together with the Raytheon and Websense teams. The panel of speakers included former Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, who also served as CIA director and as chief of staff to President Clinton; Tom Ridge, the nation’s first secretary of homeland security and a former governor of Pennsylvania; and Aneesh Chopra, author and former chief technology officer for President Obama. The panel convened at the historic Presidio, the former military base in San Francisco.
