Montenegro Prioritises Czech Defence Equipment in Military Modernisation

Montenegro is prioritising the acquisition of weapons and equipment from the Czech defence industry as part of efforts to modernise its armed forces and strengthen operational capabilities.

The priority was discussed during a meeting between Defence Minister Dragan Krapović and outgoing Czech Ambassador Janina Hrebičková on 13 October, according to Montenegro’s Ministry of Defence.

Krapović highlighted progress in bilateral defence cooperation following the signing of an intergovernmental defence cooperation agreement, which established a framework for developing joint projects.

He also pointed to the recent delivery of the first batch of military equipment from the Czech Republic, describing it as an important step towards further modernisation and improved readiness of the Armed Forces of Montenegro.

Both sides expressed support for continued cooperation, with the Czech defence industry expected to remain an important partner in Montenegro’s efforts to upgrade its military equipment and capabilities.
