The third and final LMS Batch 2 corvette, TUNKU OSMAN JEWA, has been launched for the Royal Malaysian Navy, bringing all three vessels in the programme into the water. The focus now turns to system integration and testing aboard the corvettes, which will be equipped with HAVELSAN’s ADVENT Combat Management System.
The third and final corvette built under the Royal Malaysian Navy’s LMS Batch 2 Programme, TUNKU OSMAN JEWA, was launched at Istanbul Shipyard on 9 August 2026.
The LMS Batch 2 Programme was formalised in June 2024 with the Government-to-Government Memorandum of Understanding on the Procurement of Defence Products between Türkiye and Malaysia and the handover of the Letter of Acceptance for the three-ship programme.
The three corvettes are being built in Istanbul. The first vessel, TUNKU LAKSAMANA ABDUL JALIL, was launched on 24 May 2026, followed by the second, RAJA LAUT, on 7 June 2026. With TUNKU OSMAN JEWA now in the water, the launch phase for all three vessels has been completed.
The launch ceremony brought together senior royal, military and defence industry representatives from Malaysia and Türkiye. The Sultan of Kedah, Al Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin Ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah, attended the ceremony, while the Sultanah of Kedah, Sultanah Maliha binti Almarhum Tengku Ariff, officiated as Royal Sponsor. The ceremony was also attended by Malaysia’s Chief of Defence Force, the Deputy Chief of the Royal Malaysian Navy, senior representatives of Türkiye’s Presidency of Defence Industries, military delegations from both countries and representatives of the defence industry.
A Common Combat Management Architecture Across Three Corvettes
All three LMS Batch 2 corvettes will be equipped with HAVELSAN’s ADVENT Combat Management System.
ADVENT brings together onboard sensors, weapon systems and command-and-control functions within a common operational picture. Its network-enabled architecture supports real-time information sharing across platforms and the interoperability required for modern naval operations. With ADVENT aboard all three corvettes, the system will form part of the common combat management architecture of the Royal Malaysian Navy’s new corvette fleet.
ADVENT is currently in service with the navies of nine countries. The Malaysian LMS Batch 2 Programme extends its presence to another corvette fleet in the Asia-Pacific region.
From Launch to Integration and Testing
With all three vessels now launched, the programme will continue with outfitting, system integration, Harbour Acceptance Trials and Sea Acceptance Trials. The integration and verification of ADVENT aboard the corvettes will form part of this process.
Once these activities are completed, ADVENT will serve aboard all three of the Royal Malaysian Navy’s new LMS Batch 2 corvettes.
With all three vessels now in the water, HAVELSAN’s work moves to the next phase: preparing ADVENT for service across the Royal Malaysian Navy’s new three-corvette fleet.
