IT Security Leaders to Assess UAE s Evolving Threat Landscape

With IDC’s regional IT Security Roadshow 2015 now in full swing, Abu Dhabi’s most influential IT security decision makers are set to gather at the Sofitel Corniche on May 4th to examine the increasingly volatile forces currently shaping the UAE’s threat landscape. The event will focus on the pressing need for organizations in the UAE to evaluate their existing IT security investments at a time when they are under pressure to rationalize costs, protect assets, and deploy new solutions. To this end, senior industry experts will be on hand to advise organizations on how they can sustain security as a business enabler while simultaneously ensuring they remain secure.

"While malware attacks continue to be a perennial pain point for the country’s IT security community, many UAE-based organizations are also having to face up to the damaging realities of hacktivist activities, advanced persistent threats (APTs), and even cyberwarfare," says Megha Kumar, senior research manager for software at IDC Middle East, Africa, and Turkey. "The disruptive 3rd Platform technologies of cloud, Big Data, mobility, and social business are only adding to this complexity, and it is becoming increasingly clear that both lines-of-business and IT departments must now work together to develop a clear understanding of exactly how these new technologies are impacting their people, processes, and security postures."

Against this backdrop, senior security experts, analysts, and IT leaders from across the region will deliver presentations and interactive sessions on the key challenges and opportunities brought about by the latest technology developments in the IT security arena. They will discuss new technologies and approaches, and explain how they can fit into business strategies that are enabled, not hampered, by security considerations. The sessions will feature speakers from leading technology vendors such as Akamai, Infoblox, HP, Cisco, Fortinet, Firemon, Aruba, and Oxygen.
