Croatian shipbuilder ISKRA Shipyard has signed a teaming agreement with South Korea’s HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) to strengthen cooperation in the naval and maritime sectors, including Croatia’s Multi-Purpose Corvette Programme.
The agreement was signed by Jae Rak Kim, HHI Senior Vice President and Director of North America and Europe Defence Programmes, and Roko Vuletic, CEO of ISKRA Shipyard and 3. Maj Shipyard.
Beyond the Croatian corvette programme, the partnership provides a framework for cooperation on passenger ferries, RO-PAX vessels, unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) and maritime autonomous systems.
The agreement builds on ISKRA Shipyard’s expanded industrial capacity following its acquisition of 3. Maj Shipyard in Rijeka, while HHI brings extensive experience in naval, commercial and offshore shipbuilding.
The companies aim to develop long-term cooperation, support local industrial capabilities and strengthen Croatia’s and Europe’s maritime and defence industries.
