IDIS reports that its five Megapixel (MP)Super Fisheye Camera is shortlisted for a prestigious Security & Fire Excellence Award and has received “recommended” status in independent testing by Benchmark Magazine, the UK-based publication dedicated to “driving innovation in the security industry.”

Launched at IFSEC International 2015 in June, the IDIS Super Fisheye enables complete 360-degree panoramic surveillance in high-definition to give operators complete situational awareness without any blind spots.  The camera increases security by eliminating delays associated with panning, tilting and zooming cameras manually.  Featuring dual camera- and client-side dewarping (including via mobile devices), operators’ are able to split the 360° view into smaller, more focused images such as entrance points or other areas that require close surveillance, such as cash registers, while simultaneously retaining a panoramic view.

As a result, businesses require fewer cameras to cover any given environment. Additionally, the lack of moving parts within the camera means less maintenance.  This makes the IDIS Fisheye cost effective to both install (versus the multiple cameras it replaces) and maintain, ensuring IDIS’s promise of low total cost of ownership.

Shortlisted in the CCTV Camera Equipment of the Year category at this year’s Security & Fire Excellence Awards, the IDIS Super Fisheye met the requirements to demonstrate a cutting-edge development in surveillance to award judges. Now in their seventeenth year, the awards consistently break new ground in highlighting the very best people, projects and processes the UK’s security sector has to offer. The award ceremony will take place on the 25th November, 2015 at the Park Lane Hilton, London.

The award shortlist is further supported by the recently completed Benchmark Magazine test of the DC-YI513W, which awarded the IDIS camera an overall rating of 81. Featured in the December 2015 issue, Benchmark Magazine lists the DC-YI513W as a “recommended” product, noting the robust features and functionality of the IDIS Fisheye.  The magazine describes products given a “recommended status” as those that have “no obvious flaws or performance issues, do not lack credibility and have been designed for simple installation and operation.”

With regard to the IDIS DC-YI513W, the magazine specifically mentions the camera’s high performance technology, stating that, “Dewarping is good. Processed video seems accurate, perspective is correct,” and that “pan and tilt motion is smooth, and the transitions are clean.” Image quality is described “as clean with good colour replication,” and the editor finds that configuration and installation is “intuitive and connecting to the camera is straightforward.

Brian Song, Managing Director of IDIS Europe, commented, “It is always an honour to have IDIS quality and performance recognised by credible industry and technical experts, such as those at Benchmark Magazine. It is especially rewarding to learn that the IDIS Fisheye Camera received both ‘recommended’ status and a Security & Fire Excellence Awards shortlist, in the few short months since its launch.  We look forward to celebrating with our customers and peers on 25th November.”

Benchmark Magazine previously recommended the IDIS DirectIP™ platform, IDIS Network Video Recorder DR-6116P NVR, and honoured DirectIP as a finalist in the 2014 Benchmark Innovation Awards.  IDIS offers DirectIP as an end-to-end solution, comprising a range of cameras, monitors, NVRs and comprehensive video management software. DirectIP delivers unrivalled plug-and-play simplicity, combined with highest-quality performance and industry-leading affordability.
