Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi inaugurated the country’s first domestically produced rocket launcher, the Raad 200, at the opening of the EDEX 2023 defense exhibition in Cairo.
The Raad 200 is a 122mm multiple rocket launcher with a range of up to 400 kilometers. It is equipped with a remote control system that provides protection for the crew. The launcher can be fired in single or multiple launch modes.
The Raad 200 is a significant addition to Egypt’s military arsenal. It gives the Egyptian army the ability to launch long-range rocket attacks against targets at a distance. The launcher is also a sign of Egypt’s growing military capabilities.
Egyptian Minister of Military Production Mohamed Salah El-Din Mustafa said that the Raad 200 is a “major leap forward” for Egypt’s defense industry. He said that the launcher is “a powerful tool that will strengthen Egypt’s ability to defend itself.”
The EDEX exhibition is the largest defense exhibition in Africa. It is held every two years in Cairo. The 2023 edition of the exhibition featured more than 1,000 exhibitors from 50 countries.
