BAE Systems Down-Selects Supplier for M777 Assembly, Integration & Test in India

BAE Systems has continued to support the on-going discussions between the Governments of India and the United States to secure a future order through a Foreign Military Sale (FMS) of 145 M777 howitzers to the Government of India.

Earlier this year, encouraged by Indian Prime Minister Modi’s call to ‘Make in India,’ the company offered to establish an Assembly, Integration & Testing (AIT) facility in India.

After reviewing bids from several Indian companies, BAE Systems has down-selected Mahindra as its business partner for the proposed in-country AIT facility for the M777 Ultra Lightweight Howitzer. BAE Systems looks forward to working with Mahindra in the coming weeks to finalize details of this AIT facility and to negotiate the terms of its contractual arrangement.

While there are still several more milestones that have to be achieved before a contract award, down-selecting Mahindra for AIT is an important step in this process.
