Finmeccanica –AgustaWestland announced that its Training Academy in Malaysia will receive an AW139 Maintenance Trainer Simulator later this year. This will enable practical elements of AW139 airframe and avionics courses to be undertaken in Malaysia by customers in the region.The full aircraft maintenance trainer simulator enables students to undertake maintenance and fault finding tasks on a “real” aircraft.

This latest announcement highlights AgustaWestland’s commitment to expand the AgustaWestland Training Academy Malaysia and offer an increasing number of courses at the facility for its customers. The availability of the AW139 Maintenance Trainer Simulator will allowcustomers in the region to complete both theoretical and practical elements of their AW139 training in Malaysia.

The AgustaWestland Training Academy Malaysia offers a range of courses for the AW109 Power, GrandNew and AW139 helicopters and will expand the range of courses available and to cover new types such as the AW169 and AW189 in the near future.

AgustaWestland Malaysia SdnBhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of AgustaWestland, continues to play a major role in the Malaysian helicopter market expanding its presence and increasing its capabilities through a continued programme of investment. AgustaWestland Malaysia’s regional maintenance and support centre, located at Kuala Lumpur’s Subang – Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, is a Malaysian DCA approved maintenance and repair organization. AgustaWestland Malaysia SdnBhd provides local support and training for the growing fleet of AgustaWestland customers in the region and is home to one of AgustaWestland’s four Training Academies.
Over 900 AW139 helicopters have been sold to more than 220 customers in over 70 countries worldwide to date. The AW139 has been selected by and is now performing search and rescue missions with a large number of operators in Asia and elsewhere around the globe. The AW139, as the market leader in its class, is also widely used for offshore transport, passenger transport, law enforcement, emergency medical transport, passenger transport and firefighting services.
