Bosnian defence manufacturer AC Unity presented its new AC AR-15 rifle at Balkan Shield 2026 in Sarajevo, marking the public debut of a product that is already in production and attracting buyers outside Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The rifle is based on the M4/M16 platform and was developed in 5.56×45 mm. AC Unity says the weapon was developed in line with relevant military and MIL-SPEC standards, with the company working with customers and partners during the development process to adapt the product to their requirements.
According to the company, the development of the first prototype took around nine months, followed by further refinement and testing. The AC AR-15 has also undergone testing in demanding Middle Eastern conditions, while additional testing in tropical environments is planned.
AC Unity says the rifle has already found customers outside Bosnia and Herzegovina, while a civilian version is expected to become available on the domestic market. The company also emphasizes that the components of the AC AR-15 are manufactured at its facilities in Goražde.
The new rifle adds to AC Unity’s existing product portfolio, which includes the Alfa SMG 9 and other small-arms products. Founded in 2015, the Goražde-based company specializes in the manufacture of weapon components and complete weapon systems and exports its products internationally.
