French Nexter Group has unveiled its new infantry fighting vehicle during the HEMUS 2020 exhibition in Bulgaria.
The Nexter Group along with Belgium company John Cockerill Defense (JCD) is displaying the new version of the VBCI 8×8 armored vehicle fitted with a 30mm 3030 turret at the HEMUS 2020.
The two partners share the same stand and are presenting a mock-up of a joint product: Nexter’s VBCI 8×8, on which JCD’s 30mm 3030 turret is integrated.
The two partners share the same stand and are presenting a mock-up of a joint product: Nexter’s VBCI 8×8, on which JCD’s 30mm 3030 turret is integrated. The VBCI 3030 benefits jointly from Nexter’s know-how in terms of armored vehicles and integration, as well as JCD’s expertise in the field of turrets.
The VBCI is built on an aluminium hull which carries a modular THD steel and titanium armour, which can be replaced in the field. The 8×8 wheel combination is designed to make the VBCI more comfortable and less costly than a tracked vehicle, while giving it sufficient mobility to back the main battle tank.
In recent years, the VBCI has been successfully used by the French army in most theaters of operation (Afghanistan, Sahel, Central African Republic).
