Rolls-Royce has been selected on the 12th of August by International Airlines Group to provide Trent XWB engines for eight Airbus A350-900 aircraft.
The aircraft will be operated by Iberia and are in addition to eight Trent XWB-powered A350-900s ordered by IAG for Iberia in August last year.
Dominic Horwood, Rolls-Royce, Chief Customer Officer – Civil Large Engines, said: “We welcome IAG’s decision to select further aircraft powered by our Trent XWB engines. We look forward to delivering outstanding engine performance to a valued customer.”
Iberia already operates 17 Trent 500 powered A340-600 aircraft and today’s announcement takes their fleet of Trent powered aircraft delivered and on order to 33.
The Trent XWB is the world’s most efficient large civil aero engine and more than 1,500 engines have already been sold to 40 customers. It powered the first A350 XWB aircraft into commercial service earlier this year.
