Croatia has signed contracts with South Korean defence manufacturer Hanwha Aerospace to procure 18 K239 Chunmoo multiple rocket launchers in a deal worth €435.2 million, excluding VAT. Deliveries are scheduled to be completed by 2029.
Croatian Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković described the procurement as a tangible result of cooperation between Croatia and South Korea during a meeting in Zagreb on 9 October with Cho Jeong-sik, Speaker of South Korea’s National Assembly.
The acquisition is part of broader efforts to strengthen bilateral defence ties. The two countries signed a memorandum of understanding between their defence ministries in September, providing a framework for expanded cooperation in the sector.
Jandroković also highlighted opportunities for closer collaboration in high technology, energy and defence, while Cho identified growing military cooperation as a new pillar of bilateral relations.
Croatia joins Norway, Estonia and Poland among European operators of the Chunmoo system. Poland is also involved in producing rockets for the platform, illustrating the potential for industrial cooperation alongside military procurement.
