Slovenian Guardiaris Launches EU-Funded FAST-TRAIN Defence Project

Slovenian defence technology company Guardiaris has officially launched the FAST-TRAIN project, a European Union and European Defence Fund initiative aimed at improving military training through real-time monitoring of soldiers’ physical and cognitive readiness. The company announced the launch on its official website on September 9, 2026.

FAST-TRAIN (Fused Analytics and Smart Textiles for Real-Time Operational Readiness in Soldier Training) will integrate physiological sensors, smart textiles, wearable electronics, edge computing and cognitive analytics into a single system designed to assess soldiers’ condition during training and operations. The technology aims to provide continuous monitoring, allowing training personnel to identify changes in physical and cognitive readiness as they occur rather than relying solely on post-training assessments.

Guardiaris is leading a consortium that includes the Danish Technological Institute, Germany’s Fraunhofer IZM, Brain Innovation, BORN GmbH, Italy’s ABinsula and France-based InMind-VR.

The partners will contribute expertise in physiological sensing, wearable electronics, brain activity analysis, military clothing, on-device data processing and neuroscience. According to the European Commission’s project factsheet, FAST-TRAIN has a planned duration of 36 months and a total estimated cost of approximately €3.99 million, with almost the entire amount covered by the EU contribution.

The project’s kick-off meeting brought together consortium partners, representatives of participating defence ministries and the European Commission’s project officer to coordinate objectives, work plans, partner responsibilities and end-user requirements.

Based in Ljubljana, the Slovenian company Guardiaris specialises in military training simulators and simulation technologies for defence customers.
