The UAE is not limiting its participation in the second edition of the El Alamein International Airshow and Space Exhibition “EIAS 2026” to showcasing a single aircraft or defense system. Instead, through its national pavilion, it is presenting a broader picture of its defense industry, spanning light attack and training aircraft to unmanned vehicles, missiles, air defense systems, and armored vehicles.
The UAE National Pavilion is participating in the exhibition, which opened on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at El Alamein International Airport, with a group of Emirati companies operating across the aerospace, defense, and advanced technology sectors. The participation seeks to highlight the development of the UAE’s domestic defense manufacturing base and open new markets for its products.
“B-250”.. The UAE Pavilion’s Standout Attraction
The “B-250” light attack aircraft is the centerpiece of the Emirati displays, making its first appearance at the El Alamein exhibition, alongside the “B-250T” trainer variant.
UAE-based “G5 Holding” describes the “B-250” as the first light attack aircraft to be designed, developed, and manufactured entirely in the UAE. The aircraft was designed to perform a range of missions, including close air support, surveillance, armed reconnaissance, and advanced training.
The aircraft’s participation reflects a UAE approach that goes beyond acquiring foreign equipment toward developing indigenous platforms that can be offered in regional markets. This is particularly significant given that the company said its presence at El Alamein is aimed at exploring cooperation and partnership opportunities with government and military entities, companies, operators, and investors in development, manufacturing, technical integration, research and development, and knowledge transfer.
From Aircraft to an Integrated Defense Capability
The UAE Pavilion’s appeal is not limited to the “B-250”. G5 Holding is also displaying the “Cobra” unmanned vehicle, designed to perform field missions including reconnaissance and engagement with aerial and ground threats. The company is also showcasing the “AlHeda” missiles in four variants, along with the four-wheel-drive “Mazyad” vehicle equipped with a launcher for these missiles.
In the air defense domain, the short-range “AlDeraa” system is also on display. It is designed to counter unmanned aircraft and loitering munitions through a chain of capabilities covering detection, tracking, interception, and destruction.
This is precisely where the significance of the UAE’s participation lies: the pavilion is showcasing not so much an individual weapon as a chain of capabilities linked to the nature of modern warfare, in which drones, loitering munitions, and low-cost aerial threats have become a central part of the defense equation.
A Defense Industry Seeking New Markets
The participation extends beyond combat systems, with G5 also displaying the “Sweihan” 8×8 armored vehicle, alongside the capabilities of its Advanced Industries division in manufacturing parts, components, and subassemblies for land, air, naval, and missile defense systems.
At El Alamein, the UAE is therefore presenting a picture of a defense industry seeking to build an integrated ecosystem that begins with platform development and does not end with manufacturing the platform itself, but extends to components, supply chains, and technical integration.
This aspect is particularly important in understanding the UAE’s participation. For Abu Dhabi, the exhibition is not merely a space to showcase equipment to visitors, but also a platform for reaching partners, operators, and new markets, particularly in the Middle East and Africa—markets on which Emirati companies are relying to expand their industrial and defense presence.
El Alamein.. A Test of the UAE’s Defense Presence
The UAE’s participation comes at an exhibition bringing together more than 250 exhibitors from around 50 countries, with significant space dedicated to the aerospace, defense, and space sectors. This gives the UAE National Pavilion an opportunity to showcase its products to a broad base of decision-makers, military institutions, and specialized companies.
In this context, the UAE’s message at El Alamein appears clear: domestic defense industries are no longer focused solely on operating imported systems, but are seeking to produce platforms and solutions that can be developed, marketed, and manufactured in cooperation with partners beyond the UAE’s borders.
From the “B-250” to “Cobra”, and from the “AlHeda” missiles to the “AlDeraa” system, the UAE is seeking to present itself at El Alamein not merely as an operator of advanced military systems, but as an industrial player capable of producing an expanding range of air, land, and defense solutions in a regional market where the demand for more flexible and lower-cost systems to counter the emerging threats of modern warfare is accelerating.
