Patria and KNDS Deutschland Maintenance (KNDS) have signed a framework agreement covering the assembly and final integration of Patria 6×6 armoured personnel carriers within the multinational Common Armoured Vehicles (CAVS) programme. The partnership is part of the two procurement contracts between Patria and the Bundeswehr (German Armed Forces) made in December 2025.
Patria is moving at full speed to build German industrial capacity for the CAVS programme together with KNDS and other German industrial partners. Serial deliveries to the Bundeswehr will ramp up in early 2027, while local production in Germany will be gradually increased from 2027 onwards as part of the technology transfer effort. Technology transfer is a central part of Patria’s business model, in which armoured vehicle manufacturing expertise is transferred to local partners.

This contract demonstrates that German industry is capable of delivering the self-evident high quality, while also providing the cost-effective local production required by the CAVS programme and supporting European defence manufacturing capacity,” said Jussi Järvinen, Patria’s Executive Vice President of Protected Mobility.
A Growing Multinational Programme
Launched in 2020 through cooperation between Finland and Latvia, the CAVS programme aims to deliver a joint, modern 6×6 armoured vehicle system based on the Patria 6×6 vehicle. The programme is now participated in by Finland, Latvia, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Germany and the UK. Deliveries have already been made in Finland, Sweden, Latvia, Denmark and Germany, with vehicles also operational in Ukraine.
Through the CAVS programme, participating nations can acquire modern armoured vehicles in a timely and cost-effective manner. The programme’s common approach enables shared procurement, coordinated product development and efficient life-cycle management. The CAVS programme remains open to European and NATO nations with comparable 6×6 armoured vehicle requirements.
