“Developed by Turkish defence industry company Makine ve Kimya Endüstrisi (MKE) to counter aerial threats, particularly drones, the MKE TOLGA Short-Range Air Defence System (SHORAD) demonstrated its international effectiveness and operational success last month with its first exportation to Qatar.
Following this achievement, after a contract signed between MKE and the Egyptian Ministry of Defence, MKE TOLGA SHORAD has achieved a further export success to Egypt valued at USD 130 million. These consecutive export successes constitute an important reference confirming MKE TOLGA SHORAD’s sustainable export capability, proven field performance and strong competitiveness in the global market.

KEY FEATURES OF THE MKE TOLGA SHORAD
Developed to respond increasing aerial threats on the modern battlefield conditions such as UAVs, tactical drones, smart munitions and cruise missiles, MKE TOLGA SHORAD has been developed in line with the “Effective – Simple – Affordable” approach.
Providing an integrated solution with its command and control system, radar, electro- optical sensors, electronic jammer, weapon systems of various calibres and specially developed ammunition, MKE TOLGA neutralises aerial threats through two different methods: Soft-Kill (electronic) and Hard-Kill (physical engagement).
In Soft-Kill operations, detected hostile drones are neutralised by signal jamming at ranges of up to 10 kilometres. Hard-Kill operations utilise 12.7 mm, 20 mm and 35 mm weapon systems developed by MKE, together with anti-drone ammunition developed by MKE.
Anti-drone ammunition with optimised detonation time and distance, creates a fragmentation cloud around the target, neutralising hostile drones. 35 mm anti-drone ammunition provides effective engagement up to 3,000 metres, 20 mm fragmentation
anti-drone ammunition up to 1,000 metres, and 12.7 mm fragmentation anti-drone ammunition up to 300 metres.”
“Capable of operating in manual, semi-autonomous and fully autonomous modes, MKE TOLGA can be integrated into fixed facilities, mobile platforms, armoured or unarmoured vehicles, as well as naval platforms thanks to its modular design.
ESTABLISHMENT OF A 155 MM LONG-RANGE ARTILLERY AMMUNITION PRODUCTION FACILITY IN EGYPT”.
Under the contract signed between MKE and the Egyptian Ministry of Defence, an
agreement has been signed for the establishment of a 155 mm Long-Range
Artillery Ammunition Production Facility in Egypt.

NEW CARTRIDGE PRODUCTION FACILITY TO MKE’S INTERNATIONAL NETWORK
MKE has signed a contract with the Egyptian Ministry of Defence for the establishment of 7.62 mm and 12.7 mm cartridge production facilities in Egypt. With this project, MKE has expanded its cartridge production network 9 countries, with Egypt added as the latest location. The network is spanning Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa.

MKE TO ESTABLISH A NEW COMPANY IN EGYPT
To manage the production facilities to be established and to increase export potentials in Egypt and the region, an agreement has been made between MKE and the Egyptian authorities for the establishment of a joint company.
