Makine ve Kimya Endüstrisi (MKE) continues to strengthen international cooperation and
contribute to regional defence capacity by sharing its expertise and production capabilities in the defence industry with friendly and allied countries.
In this context, a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) covering defence and investment activities was signed between MKE and Barzan Holdings on 3 February 2025 in Doha, Qatar, during a meeting held with the participation of the Minister of National Defence, Mr Yaşar GÜLER.
Following the MoU, and with the aim of establishing a corporate, sustainable and long-term structure for the ongoing cooperation with Barzan Holdings, the parties reached an agreement to implement joint projects in the defence industry through a joint venture (JV) model.
Accordingly, within the scope of the DIMDEX Exhibition held in Doha on 19 January 2026, a Joint Venture Ceremony was held to formalise the partnership between MKE and BARZAN Holdings. During the ceremony, a new Memorandum of Understanding was
signed between MKE General Manager Mr İlhami Keleş and Qatar-based Barzan Holdings GCEO (Group Chief Executive Officer) Mohamed Al-Sadah.
The signed Memorandum of Understanding includes the following key elements:
- The establishment of a joint venture in Qatar between MKE and Barzan Holdings,
- The development of explosives production capability in Qatar through the established partnership,
- The execution of the sale of MKE’s high-technology product, the MKE TOLGA Short-Range Air Defence System, with the aim of its inclusion in the Qatari Armed Forces’ inventory.
