IDEX 2025 in Abu Dhabi and the Polish National Stand

As part of the IDEX 2025 defence industry fair in the United Arab Emirates, the Polish Investment and Trade Agency will arrange the Polish National Stand. The purpose of the Stand is to promote and support Polish companies from the high-tech sector in the area of security and dual-use goods. Promotional activities will be conducted under the motto “Poland. Business Forward” and will implement the assumptions of the “Internationalization of SMEs – Brand HUB” programme in cooperation with the Polish Ministry of Development and Technology.

The event will be held from 17 to 21 February 2025 in Abu Dhabi, UAE. IDEX is an international defence industry exhibition, held every two years, and is considered one of the most important events in the entire defence sector. It serves as a meeting place for representatives of governments, armed forces, security-related institutions, and manufacturers. Exhibitors showcase the most advanced innovations and technologies, while the event also provides a platform for discussing issues related to international security. IDEX 2025 is expected to host over 1,350 exhibitors from 65 countries.

Strategic Role of the Polish Defence Industry

The complex geopolitical landscape has significantly increased the demand for modern military technologies and dual-use goods—products that cater to both civilian and military needs. This dynamic presents a unique opportunity to strengthen Poland’s defence industry, where large state-owned enterprises are complemented by a growing number of private companies dedicated to the security market.

In 2023, the Polish Armaments Group achieved record-breaking revenues of over PLN 8 billion, underscoring the global demand for Polish military technology. This success is reflected in high-profile orders, including the “Piorun” portable anti-aircraft missile systems and “Rak” self-propelled mortars. Additionally, the export of “Krab” gun-howitzers to Ukraine further highlights Poland’s expanding influence in the international defence market.

In recent years, Poland has strengthened its defence export partnerships, particularly with the United States and Ukraine. Polish companies, including Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (with subsidiaries such as Zakłady Mechaniczne “Bumar-Łabędy” and Huta Stalowa Wola) and WB Electronics (Grupa WB), supply missile and communication systems, drones, and components for military equipment production.

Ukraine has become a key market for the Polish defence industry due to its urgent need to counter the Russian invasion. Beyond supplying equipment, Polish companies also provide critical maintenance and repair services, restoring damaged Ukrainian military assets to combat readiness.

In 2022, Poland’s defence exports reached EUR 1,180 million, with major international partners including:

  • Ukraine – 67% of total export value
  • United States – 17%
  • Thailand – 3%
  • Brunei and Norway – 2% each

Poland’s Presence at IDEX 2025

IDEX 2025 presents a prime opportunity for Polish companies to leverage the National Stand as a strategic exhibition space. The Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH) actively supports Polish exports in the high-tech security and dual-use goods sector by facilitating business talks at the Stand.

Additionally, Polish companies will have access to an exclusive VIP lounge for B2B meetings. PAIH will also provide consulting and advisory services through an industry expert and a local trade office representative. Companies unable to attend in person are invited to send promotional videos, which will be displayed at the National Stand.
