The CH-47 Chinook has consistently played a pivotal role in worldwide rescue and relief efforts during times of crisis. In early 2023, the U.S. Army awarded Boeing a $426M contract to produce 12 new CH-47F Block I Chinooks for the Egyptian Air Force. With this sale, Egypt will replace its fleet of CH-47D aircraft with the modern F Block I model, and benefit from its advanced multi-mission capabilities.
Synonymous with evolution and adaptability for over half a century, the CH-47F Block I combines a familiar silhouette with transformative modern engineering. The introduction of advanced features such as the Common Avionics Architecture System (CAAS) Digital Glass Cockpit, Digital Automatic Flight Control System (DAFCS), and advanced cargo-handling systems make the CH-47F Block I well-suited to meet evolving customer needs across multiple continents and air forces in the Middle East.
And Boeing continues to innovate the platform. The new CH-47F Block II further incorporates cutting-edge designs, including redesigned fuel tanks, a fortified fuselage, and a refined drivetrain, enabling it to transport heavier payloads over longer distances. The airframe is also designed to accommodate air-to-air refueling, a critical capability already utilized by the U.S. Army in their global missions. With its modernized features, the CH-47F Block II serves as a key capability today and provides a strong foundation for future technology insertions.
