Sikorsky landed a contract worth $251.4 million to build Black Hawk helicopters for Jordan and Croatia.
These helicopters will help both countries move cargo and people, guard their borders, fight terrorism, and find people in need of rescue.
The project should be finished by June 2027.
This isn’t the first time these countries bought American helicopters. Jordan bought two Black Hawks in 2022 to add to their existing fleet, and Croatia bought eight to replace their old helicopters from the Soviet era.
The UH-60M Black Hawk is the US Army’s main medium-lift helicopter. It’s a twin-engine aircraft with better rotor blades, instruments, controls, and navigation systems than the older UH-60A model.
It also has a modern digital system that helps pilots see what’s around them better. The Black Hawk can fly up to 151 knots (almost 280 kilometers per hour) and can travel over 276 nautical miles (over 511 kilometers) before needing more fuel. According to the manufacturer, Sikorsky, the Black Hawk was designed to be the safest and most effective helicopter of its kind.
