The WDS 2026 theme, “The Future of Defense Integration,” exemplifies an interconnected future of defense across all domains—air, land, sea, space, and security. Our 2026 edition focuses on inclusively advancing the industry to the next level of ultimate readiness on all fronts, recognizing that sectors can’t operate in silos but rather in unison. This theme challenges the industry to think beyond traditional defense strategies and embrace a more collaborative future. In 2026, we aim to set the stage for a future where defense technologies and strategies operate synergistically to ensure readiness on all fronts.


• What key factors influenced this direction?
Our direction is heavily influenced by the current technological landscape and the growing need for defense systems to be more integrated and flexible. As technologies progressively evolve, particularly in AI, unmanned systems, and cybersecurity, there’s an ever-growing need for future defense solutions to quickly adapt and integrate across domains to maximize effectiveness. Taking this approach is particularly relevant as we move into a future where interconnecting technologies and systems will be key to achieving operational success and strategic advantage.


• How does WDS 2026 plan to build upon the success of previous editions?
WDS 2026 promises to deliver a transformational event, featuring interactive exhibits, enhanced networking, and a focus on innovation that will shape the future of the global defense industry. We are significantly scaling 2026 in both size and impact. Our exhibition space has grown by 58% since the show’s inception, spanning across 273,000 sqm, to accommodate even more global exhibitors, visitors, and strategic discussions. In addition to expanding the physical space, we are broadening the scope of the event’s features and programs. Building on the success of previous editions, we are introducing new features to address the most critical areas of modern defense, ensuring that WDS increases in relevancy and is at the forefront of global defense exhibitions.

• What new elements can exhibitors and visitors expect?
We have introduced five cutting-edge features to the upcoming edition of WDS 2026, including the Future Defense Lab, Unmanned Systems Zone, Naval Zone, Saudi Supply Chain Zone, and WDS News Network. These dynamic features are designed to showcase the latest innovations and advancements in defense technologies while providing a platform to integrate Saudi Arabia’s local market on the global stage through the Saudi Supply Chain Zone. The WDS News Network will offer exclusive content, delivering behind-the-scenes insights and expert analysis before, during, and after the event.
We are also maintaining and enhancing favored features from the 2024 edition, streamlining and improving the process for the Delegations Program. Our Meet the KSA Government program will return to this edition, offering exclusive access to key decision makers in Saudi Arabia and outlining investment opportunities within the Kingdom’s rapidly growing defense sector. Our new Unmanned Systems Zone will be a premium showcase for autonomous innovations, diving deeply into the rapid advancements in AI, cybersecurity, and autonomous systems. This dedicated zone will feature cutting-edge technologies such as unmanned vehicles, AI-driven systems, and real-time cybersecurity solutions, providing a hands-on experience for attendees. By offering live demonstrations and in-depth explorations of these innovations, WDS 2026 ensures that visitors can witness firsthand how autonomous systems are reshaping the future of defense. This platform highlights the integration of these technologies across various defense domains, allowing industry leaders to engage with the latest solutions that drive operational effectiveness and enhance security.


• How do you see the evolving role of defense trade shows in an era where virtual and hybrid events are gaining traction?
We believe in-person events remain essential for fostering relationships and showcasing live demonstrations, however we recognize the importance of reaching a wider audience through virtual and hybrid formats. To this end, WDS has launched the WDS News Network, a digital space for exclusive content, interviews, and expert analysis. The network will extend the show’s reach before, during, and after the event, allowing those who cannot attend in person to engage with highlights.


• Are there any partnerships or collaborations in place to enhance the technological aspect of WDS 2026?
We collaborate closely with our founder, GAMI (General Authority for Military Industries), and our strategic partner, SAMI (Saudi Arabian Military Industries). GAMI’s vision supports WDS to align the event with the Kingdom’s long-term goals of defense sector growth, localizing 50% of defense expenditures by 2030. SAMI, as the national champion in Saudi Arabia’s defense sector, is leading the charge in advancing local defense technologies and spearheading critical initiatives in research and development. WDS is the ultimate platform to forge such high-impact partnerships and collaborations as we bring together key players in defense to drive technological advancements and foster innovation within the industry.

• Given the strategic location of Saudi Arabia, how does WDS contribute to the Kingdom’s defense sector growth and Vision 2030 goals?
WDS 2026 places a major emphasis on integrating the local market with global leaders in 2026. Our Saudi Supply Chain Zone will shine the spotlight on Saudi starts-ups, SMEs, and medium sized enterprises, placing them on the global stage to network and collaborate with global players. Incorporating this feature directly supports Saudi Vision 2030’s goal to localize 50% of defense spending by promoting local manufacturing to accelerate the Kingdom’s journey towards a self-sufficient, sustainable defense sector.
Additionally, our Meet the KSA Government program offers exhibitors exclusive direct access to key decision-makers, providing invaluable insights into Saudi Arabia’s defense ecosystem, procurement guidelines, and partnership opportunities.

Our Delegations Program will further enhance this experience by bringing high-level decision-makers and government officials from across the globe, providing exhibitors with exclusive opportunities to engage in discussions and form partnerships. The program is designed to foster knowledge exchange and strengthen strategic partnerships between regional and global defense players, shaping the future of defense through collaboration and shared expertise.


• How is WDS fostering stronger ties between international defense players and regional defense industries?
WDS is playing a key role in connecting international defense leaders with regional players, fostering a collaborative environment where knowledge and expertise flow freely across borders. Attracting 70 of the top 100 global defense companies, including 19 of the top 20, cements our role as a truly international platform. Through our Saudi Supply Chain Zone and dedicated matchmaking programs, we are creating direct opportunities for local businesses to partner with global defense companies. Additionally, the Meet the KSA Government Program ensures that international companies have exclusive access to decision-makers, enhancing the potential for strategic partnerships and investments. • Can you highlight any special events, forums, or live demonstrations that will be unique to this edition?
WDS 2026 will feature several exciting live demonstrations and forums that offer unparalleled opportunities to witness innovation in action. Our Future Defense Lab will be a key highlight, bringing together the brightest minds in defense to showcase the technologies that will shape the future. The Unmanned Systems Zone will feature live testing and demonstrations of autonomous systems across air, land, sea, and space, providing attendees with firsthand insights into these transformative technologies. Additionally, our Content Theaters host high-level forums and discussions, giving participants the chance to engage with thought leaders and decision-makers on critical topics such as future leadership, innovation, human capital, and technology integration. In 2024 the Content Theaters hosted 90 sessions over five days, featuring 175 speakers and attracting 4,000 attendees. In the upcoming 2026 edition, we anticipate even more engaging discussion on solutions and strategies transforming the defense landscape, with a focus on unmanned systems and naval technologies. Our features position WDS 2026 as the ultimate defense platform at the forefront of defense innovation.
