Lockheed Martin has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Grupo Oesía for the future production in Spain of PATRIOT Advanced Capability – 3 (PAC-3) missile segment enhancement components.
The Memorandum of Understanding offers Grupo Oesia the opportunity to manufacture PAC-3 MSE parts for customers all over the world and paves the way for Spain to join the worldwide community of PAC-3 users.
After a successful transfer of know-how and assistance, Grupo Oesía will manufacture highly specialized PAC-3 MSE electronic cables and harnesses for the PAC-3 MSE global supply chain.
“Our collaboration with Grupo Oesía will bring critical industrial competencies to Spain, boosting its Integrated Air and Missile Defence (IAMD) capabilities against growing threats,” said Brenda Davidson, vice president of PAC-3 Programs at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control. “We look forward to collaborating with the Spanish industrial base and strengthening our existing relationships.”
The PAC-3 MSE will provide increased capability for Spanish PATRIOT battalions to defend against tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, advanced threats and aircraft.
Lockheed Martin’s PAC-3 MSE interceptor is an advanced missile interceptor that protects against incoming threats through melee contact, which provides exponentially more kinetic energy on target than can be achieved with blast fragmentation mechanisms. 15 countries have chosen the PAC-3 for air and missile defence capabilities to defend against modern threats.
“This agreement, the first one based on the Strategic Collaboration Framework Agreement signed during the Paris Air Show last year, focuses on new opportunities to participate in new and important national and international technological deterrence programs,” said Héctor Roldán, COO of Grupo Oesía. “This new agreement confirms Lockheed Martin’s satisfaction with our operational performance as a recognized elite supplier.”
