Leonardo and the Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026 have announced the signing of a strategic partnership agreement as part of the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The collaboration, made possible through synergy with the Italian Minister for Sport and Youth, Andrea Abodi, marks a crucial step in promoting the effective coordination of field operators during the major sporting event to be held in Italy in 2026. Leonardo will deploy a mission-critical, multi-technology, and multi-user communication system.
Present at the signing of the agreement were Leonardo’s Chairman, Ambassador Stefano Pontecorvo, Leonardo’s CEO, Roberto Cingolani, the President of the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation, Giovanni Malagò, and its CEO, Andrea Varnier.
Leonardo’s innovative solutions – supported by its technological leadership and extensive experience in secure communications for major events – will help ensure a unique experience for all participants in the Games.
The sporting event will follow a decentralized model, involving a vast territory for the first time: 22,000 km², two regions (Lombardy and Veneto), two autonomous provinces (Trento and Bolzano), and two cities (Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo).
“Thanks to the partnership with the Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026, Leonardo is supporting a project that strengthens the country’s international image while promoting the universal values of sport,” said Roberto Cingolani, CEO and General Manager of Leonardo. “We are proud to bring our know-how and expertise to meet the security needs of a globally significant event through advanced technologies and specialized skills.”
