IQDEX 2024 concluded its four-day run at the Baghdad International Fairground, marked by extensive international participation and the unveiling of the latest military and security technologies.
Held from April 20 to 23, 2024, IQDEX witnessed a remarkable turnout of countries and defense companies from around the world. The exhibition showcased a vast array of weapons, equipment, vehicles, and advanced technological systems, reflecting the rapid advancements in the defense industry.
Iraq Receives 54 Offers from Foreign Companies:
Iraqi Defense Minister Thabit al-Abasi revealed that Iraq has received 54 proposals from foreign companies seeking to market their military equipment in the country.
Al-Abasi indicated that the Iraqi Prime Minister had discussed with his US counterpart the provision of F-16 fighter jets, Bell helicopters, and the Andrutron unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) system to Iraq.
This comes within the framework of the Iraqi government’s efforts to enhance the capabilities of its armed forces and security forces with the latest military industries and technologies, support national industries, and create new investment opportunities.
Al-Abasi emphasized that Iraq enjoys a safe and stable environment to attract investments in various fields, including the defense industry.
Showcasing Cutting-Edge Technologies:
IQDEX 2024 featured the participation of 112 companies, mostly foreign, showcasing their latest military equipment and technologies.
Exhibiting companies presented a wide range of cutting-edge military and security technologies, including firearms, ammunition, electronic systems, UAVs, and air defense systems. Additionally, a number of cybersecurity devices were displayed to address the growing threats in this domain.
Distinguished Official Presence:
The exhibition witnessed a distinguished official presence, with senior officials from the Iraqi Ministries of Defense and Interior, as well as military delegations from various countries, attending the event.
The Russian ambassador pointed out that the next phase will see greater Russian participation in Iraqi military exhibitions, emphasizing the continuation of the exchange of delegations between the two countries to strengthen cooperation in the military field.
