The provision is embedded in the NATO BRASS (Broadcast and Ship-Shore) framework programme • Land HF radio systems will be installed to allow communications with naval units thousands of kilometres away
• The systems will guarantee the effective co-ordination of naval units, land-based facilities and NATO command centres
As part of NATO’s BRASS (Broadcast and Ship to Shore) programme, Finmeccanica – Selex ES has been awarded a contract to provide the Polish Navy with NATO-interoperable telecommunications systems. The systems are for the Polish Navy’s land-based radio sites and will be provided through Page Europa, prime contractor for the BRASS programme in Poland.
Finmeccanica – Selex ES’s high-power HF radio systems and their associated receivers will allow the Polish Navy to transmit and receive messages at ranges of thousands of kilometers in accordance with NATO standards ACP 127 and STANAG 5066.
Within the BRASS Poland programme the Polish Navy communication networks will be integrated into the Polish Ministry of Defence’s terrestrial telecommunications networks and NATO’s land network to provide a full operational coordination between naval units at sea, national land Commands and NATO.
This programme further strengthens Finmeccanica – Selex ES’s position as a reference systems provider within NATO architectures.
Finmeccanica – Selex ES’s HF systems are of a new generation, state-of-the-art technical design, making the company (at its Pomezia, Rome site) one of the few manufacturers of this kind of system worldwide.
Finmeccanica – Selex ES has provided similar solutions to Turkey, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Belgium and for the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA)’s integration and test centre.
