The Mercury AI is developing a manufacturing facility with a planned annual capacity of 7.2 million security cameras, expanding Serbia’s role in the European security technology industry.
Serbia is set to strengthen its position in the security technology sector with a new factory being developed by domestic company The Mercury AI. According to Serbian public broadcaster RTS, the facility will cover approximately 17,000 square metres and is planned to become Europe’s largest security camera factory by production capacity.
The project combines large-scale hardware manufacturing with in-house software development, including artificial intelligence-based video surveillance and analytics. The company’s technology includes capabilities for detecting potentially dangerous events, such as violent behaviour and weapons, in video streams.
The investment comes amid growing European interest in reliable security equipment, cybersecurity and diversified supply chains. By integrating camera production and software development, The Mercury AI aims to offer a more comprehensive surveillance technology portfolio for international customers.
The company is targeting European and North American markets, where demand for advanced video surveillance and AI-enabled security solutions continues to create opportunities for technology manufacturers. If the planned capacity is achieved, the facility could establish Serbia as a significant production base in the sector.
