KNDS France and BARZAN Holdings announce the signing of a Letter of Intent (LoI) at the DIMDEX exhibition, marking a significant step toward the localisation of medium and large-calibre ammunition capabilities in Qatar.
The Letter of Intent was signed on 20 January by Mr. Nicolas Groult, Chief Executive Officer of KNDS France, and His Excellency Mr. Al Sadah, Chief Executive Officer of BARZAN Holdings.
The LoI outlines the mutual intention of both parties to cooperate in the development of local industrial capabilities in the field of ammunition, in support of Qatar’s national defence objectives and the strengthening of a resilient regional supply chain. The cooperation is built on shared commitments to technology transfer, industrial excellence, and long-term partnership.
Under the terms of the agreement, KNDS France and BARZAN Holdings will explore localization opportunities across key areas of ammunition manufacturing, with the objective of meeting operational requirements while complying with the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance.
Commenting on the agreement, Mr. Sebastian Simon, Commercial Director of KNDS Ammunition, said:
“This agreement is an important first step in establishing a sovereign ammunition supply capability in Qatar. KNDS is fully committed to advancing quickly with this initiative.”
This initiative is fully aligned with BARZAN Holdings’ mandate to enhance sovereign defence capabilities as well as with KNDS France’s strategy to support trusted partners through sustainable, locally anchored industrial solutions.
The signing took place during DIMDEX, one of the leading international defence and maritime security exhibitions, providing a strategic platform for strengthening cooperation between international industry leaders and regional stakeholders.
