HAVELSAN PDDS & SDDS Integrated and Reliable Data Distribution Systems for Naval Platforms

Developed by HAVELSAN, the Platform Data Distribution System (PDDS) and Submarine Data Distribution System (SDDS) provide high-tech, reliable, and modular solutions to meet the data processing and distribution needs of modern naval platforms. Both systems are actively used in the operational environments of the Turkish Naval Forces and allied navies, enhancing platform mission effectiveness and operational efficiency.

PDDS – Platform Data Distribution System

The PDDS collects, processes, and distributes data from sensors and systems on surface platforms to mission computers, Combat Management Systems (CMS), weapon systems, tactical sensors, and other subsystems. As the backbone of the platform, the PDDS ensures synchronized and reliable data flow across all subsystems during operations.

PDDS Configurations and Application Areas:

  • Two 25U Cabinets Configuration (For large platforms such as frigates, corvettes, etc.)
  • 25U Cabinet Configuration (For patrol vessels, missile boats, etc.)
  • 12U Cabinet Configuration (For fast attack crafts and smaller platforms)
  • Compact PDDS Unit (For USVs and similar unmanned surface platforms)

SDDS – Submarine Data Distribution System

The SDDS, specifically designed for submarine platforms, ensures real-time, reliable, and synchronized data flow between critical submarine subsystems such as tactical sensors (SONAR, RADAR, Periscopes, etc.), navigation systems, combat management systems, and weapon systems throughout the entire operation.

Key Features:

  • Real-Time Data Distribution: Low-latency data transfer to all critical systems across the platform.
  • Redundant Architecture with Fault Tolerance: Redundant computing infrastructure with two cabinets or within a single cabinet, ensuring continuous operation.
  • Multiple Interface Support: A wide range of interface options, including Ethernet, RS-422, RS232/485, HDLC, Synchro, NTP, and STANAG HQ/1PPS.
  • Data Control and Plausibility Check: Intelligent data control, filtering, and prioritization algorithms for accurate and orderly data flow.
  • Simulation and Black Box Functionality: Sensor data simulation, data recording, and analysis support.
  • Modular and Scalable Architecture: Expandable hardware and software architecture adaptable to different submarine classes.

Typical Input Interfaces:

  • INS, Gyro, GNSS
  • EM-Log, Doppler-Log, Echo Sounder
  • RADAR, Periscopes
  • Meteorological sensors
  • Main engine and auxiliary system

Typical Output Interfaces:

  • Combat Management Systems (CMS)
  • Weapon and Missile Control Systems
  • RADAR, Periscopes and Electro-optical Sensor Systems
  • Navigation and Chart Systems (ECDIS/WECDIS)
  • Communication and Tactical Data Link Systems (LINK, AIS, etc.)

Approvement Standards:

  • MIL-STD-810
  • MIL-STD-461
  • MIL-STD-1310 and MIL-STD-1399

HAVELSAN PDDS and SDDS solutions optimize the operational capabilities and decision-making processes of naval platforms under the demanding conditions of modern warfare.
