Finmeccanica: US$ 350 mln Contract with Interjet for 10 Additional SSJ100 Aircraft

SuperJet International, a joint venture between Finmeccanica-Alenia Aermacchi and Sukhoi Holding, signed a contract worth US$ 350 million (around € 310 million) with the Mexican airline Interjet, for the purchase of ten additional Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft (SSJ100). With this contract, the number of SSJ100s ordered by the Central-American airline rises to 30. Interjet was the first Western customer ordering and operating this aircraft. SuperJet International will accomplish the delivery of the first 20 SSJ100s by the end of 2015, whereas these ten additional aircraft will be delivered by the end of 2016.

Interjet signed an initial contract with SuperJet International in 2011 for 15 SSJ100s, plus five options. In July 2012, the five options have been exercised and, in November of the same year, Interjet added ten more options, today converted into firm orders.

Interjet, the second most important Mexican airline, currently operates 12 SSJ100s, which have proved a 99% operational reliability, accumulating over 20,000 flight hours in less than two years. The aircraft chosen by Interjet occurs in the configuration of 93 seats in economy version, with Made in Italy interiors by Pininfarina, designed to ensure maximum comfort to passengers.
