On Thursday 8 October, close to 100 guests visited Damen Shipyards Sharjah for the ‘Step On Board’ event, giving them the chance to experience what Damen is all about. The yard was a hive of activity, featuring both newbuild and repair projects, covering tugs, crew boats and offshore vessels.
A range of brand-new Damen vessels and equipmentwas on display, including ASD Tugs, Multi Cats, Shoalbusters, Cutter Suction Dredgers and DOP Pumps – all of which are ready for delivery from stock. Visitors had the option to sail in the port aboard the renowned Damen ASD Tug 2810, or to take a ride on the state-of-the-art Damen Stan Pilot 1605 (with composite hull).The 1605 was set for it imminent delivery to Sharjah Ports Authority. The Damen CSD 500 and DOP 1815 were also in operation and showed their impressive pumping capacities.
In the morning, three parallel mini-seminars were held to focus on relevant markets: Ports & Terminals, Dredging, and finally Oil & Gas including repair & conversions. The combination of specialist presentations and lively interaction made for very informative sessions.
