Australian Minister for Defence opens Thomas Global Systems’ new Electronic Systems Innovation Hub

 Thomas Global Systems welcomed the Minister for Defence, Senator the Hon Marise Payne, to their Sydney Headquarters on 4th March. Minister Payne officially opened the Company’s new Electronic and Embedded Systems Innovation Hub [EESI-Hub], a new Centre of Excellence which will be the focus of Thomas Global’s internal R&D and New Product Development initiatives. The new EESI-Hub facility is designed to optimise the conceptualisation, development of concepts and integration of innovative applications in commercial aerospace and defence sectors.

Minister Payne’s visit highlights the importance of Thomas Global System’s role within the defence industry and its position as a growing Australian defence business. The Company is a recognised leader in the development, integration and support of specialist electronic systems for mission critical applications across military land, sea and airborne environments and has built a solid reputation in the industry as a result of high performance solutions and strong investment in key research areas. Thomas Global Systems’ defence products and solutions are used on platforms around the world, ranging from armoured vehicles to advanced aircraft.

During the site visit, the Minister met with members of the Thomas Global Systems’ Advisory Board and employees and discussed the role of innovation within the Company. Angus Hutchinson, CEO, said: “We are pleased to welcome Minister Payne to Thomas Global Systems at such an exciting time in the growth of the defence area of our business. Her visit highlights the strength of our position as a leading national player in the defence industry. This new facility underscores that innovation and research are at the forefront of our business.”

Industry views the new white paper as an excellent framework for Australia’s defence posture over the next 20 years.
