AJW Group Supports the Nepalese Earthquake Appeal with Donation to the British Red Cross

“Large disasters like the Nepalese earthquake tragedy that present a humanitarian crisis on an enormous scale need a planned response” says Christopher Whiteside, President of AJW Group, the world’s leading independent provider of integrated aircraft support services. “The British Red Cross buys and stores relief items in countries where disasters are likely to happen. In Kathmandu, for example, they already had thousands of tarpaulins, blankets and cooking sets waiting to help the earthquake victims.”

AJW Group has now provided its own financial help to the British Red Cross for the Nepalese Earthquake Appeal. The organisation has donated $1 for every invoice raised throughout the month of April and further funds have been raised by staff through cake-bake sales and other initiatives at the Company’s global offices. Importantly, AJW Aviation is ensuring that airlines assisting with the relief effort have access to emergency aircraft component spares located in Kathmandu.

“The money will be converted into whatever’s most needed directly in the disaster zone” continues Whiteside. “For example working with the Nepal Red Cross, the British Red Cross has now reached over 282,000 people with 18,865 tarpaulins. These will provide shelter for those in need, especially as the monsoon season is fast approaching. Relief supply kits, tarpaulins, blankets, oral rehydration sachets, hygiene kits & burial kits have already been distributed, a mass sanitation unit is about to go, and fortuitously they had set up an operational blood bank in Nepal a week prior to the earthquake hitting. They understand what is required and how to get it to the people most in need.”

AJW Group has also contacted its worldwide customer base of more than 1,000 airlines across 42 countries to encourage participation in the important fund raising effort.
